A massive congratulations to all the students who attended the District Athletics today. Not only do we have a large number of students moving onto Division, but we also we were the overall winning school in the Pakenham District. Well done to Mr Cole for all his hard work.

Athlete Press Conference

What do Usain Bolt, Dane Swan and Michael Jordan have in common? They were all at Beaconsfield Primary school this afternoon!

Today the grade 5’s held an Athlete Press Conference where they each dressed up as an athlete of their choice and answered a series of questions from the media. After previously conducting research on their athlete, they were asked in the press conference who they were, what sport they played, their career highlight and the exercise routine and diet required to play their sport.

Everyone dressed up and looked the part and the public speaking was fantastic. Well done to everyone who participated, especially those who had to put on accents!

Today’s Special Visitor

Today we had a special visit from Kate Beveridge, spokeswomen for the Cardinia Shire. She came to talk to our students about our Stop and Drop Zone.

Kate talked to the students about walking safely to school and asked them what they think about keeping active, something that is relevant to our current Investigations topic. All the students were excited about the upcoming events where prizes such as a Go Pro camera and “create your own helmet” design are up for grabs.

Next term the senior students will lead our school in having an active day each week where students of all ages can ride, walk and scoot to school. She thanked our students for their time and feedback.

We are proud to share that she also said they were the most polite and well mannered students who showed interest and a wealth of knowledge of what it takes to be active to combat the ever growing obesity problem in young kids.

A special thank you to Lachlan for sharing his helmet for the sessions!

Students of the Week

Well done to Jacob, Danny, Carly and Shanade on earning Student of the Week awards today. They will be presented with their certificate at our special assembly which is beginning at 2:45 in the gym today.
