Today we had a special visit from Kate Beveridge, spokeswomen for the Cardinia Shire. She came to talk to our students about our Stop and Drop Zone. Due to the success of our Stop and Drop Zone at O’Neil Road, Kate has announced that two new Stop and Go Zones will be up and running later in the year.
Kate talked to the students about walking safely to school and asked them what they think about keeping active. All the students were excited about the upcoming events where prizes such as a Go Pro camera, scooters and helmets are up for grabs. This year our grade 5/6 students may also be involved in the design of ‘street stickers’ that will go on the footpath from our Stop and Drop Zone.
We are proud to share that she also said they were polite and well mannered students who showed interest and a wealth of knowledge of what it takes to be active to combat the ever growing obesity problem in young kids. She thanked our students for their time and feedback.
