HPV Come and Try Session

Dear Parents and friends,

As you may be aware during Week 2 and Week 3 of this term Mr Cole has been using the Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs) as part of the grade 3 to 6 PE lessons. For those students who would be interested in joining Beaconsfield Primary School’s HPV team there will be a ‘Come and Try’ session this Wednesday, 27th of July 2016, after school on the outside basketball court and front drive way until around 6:30pm. You do not need to attend the whole session, this is an opportunity to have a look and ask questions.

To attend this ‘Come and Try’ session students must be turning a minimum of 10 years of age in 2016 and be accompanied by a responsible adult. The team is a parent run program supported by the school so parent participation in the running of the team is required.
The current race team members will have their regular training session between 3:45 and 4:45pm if you wish to watch how more experienced riders handle the HPVs, ask the students questions or ride on a more challenging track than the one used during PE lessons.

Mr Cole can provide bike helmets for the session but if you wish to use your own helmet please remember to bring it with you. As there are many moving parts on a HPV, please do not wear loose clothing. It is recommended that riders wear tracksuit pants or leggings, not skirts as they may become caught in the chain.

Thank you kindly,

Mr Cole

Healthy Heart, Healthy Living

With Healthy Living being our Investigations topic for this term, we thought running a fitness circuit during our Friday Sport time would be a great way to kick things off! Students had the opportunity to complete activities such as push ups, sit ups, burpees, skipping and planking to help improve their fitness level. It was fantastic to see everyone pushing themselves to try and be a healthier human!
