Just letting you know at this stage Junior Cross Country will still be running tomorrow. If anything changes we will let you know. All students from prep to 6 can wear their house colours.
As students and families are aware, we use a variety of math strategies when solving addition and subtraction problems. You’ve probably heard or seen things such as the jump, split and compensation strategies. Some of these are very different to the ones parents might have used when they were in school. So we have put together an explanation of how to do these strategies so students can practice them at home when completing Mathletics and so parents can help their child if needed. Click on the link below to check it out.
Just a reminder for our grade 6 families that we have our Transition Information Evening tomorrow night at 6.00pm in 6B and 6J’s classroom.
We will be running through the Grade 6 to Year 7 transition process and how this works, as well as having staff from Berwick College and Officer Secondary College presenting about their school. Even if you have already decided not to attend one of these schools, it will be beneficial to still come to see the timeline for transition and what forms you will still need to complete.
Today our school leaders attended the Halogen Leadership Conference at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. They listened to a variety of speakers who emphasised that together we can achieve anything. Jade Hameister, who at age 14 was the youngest person to ski to the North Pole, spoke about choosing bravery over perfection and that its ok to fail at things. Matt Cosgrove, author and illustrator of Epic Fail Tales, spoke about using your imagination and being persistent, as well as finding your passion and practising it. These inspirational leaders gave our school leaders some skills and knowledge to help them strive to be the best they can be for our school.
As next week is the last week of term there will be no homework.
